I need some advice
So I am having a dilemma. I really am trying to listen to my children and what they want for Christmas. I observe what they play with and listen to what they ask for. It is a challenge. I would love to be able to buy everything that they wanted but I know that kids can't handle toy over load. So my dilemma is do I buy a toy that they ask for even though they don't play with similar toys. For example, do I buy another barbie because that is what they ask for, even though they don't play with the barbies that they have now. Or do I buy things that I notice that they play with. I am stuck and would appreciate some suggestions.

good luck on deciding what to do. Maybe buy one thing that they want and be practical with the rest. Christmas is about dreams.
I read something lately:
1 thing they want
1 thing they need
1 thing they wear
1 thing they read
don't know if it helps...
I like the 4 "1 thing" suggestions!
Hot cheetos
Kate did the exact same thing this year. She wanted a Rapunzel Barbie, but she never really plays with the two Barbies she still has. However, I do know that Kate has been interested in styling hair, and I wondered if that's why she wanted it. I searched online and found a Rapunzel doll at the Disney Store website that is supposed to have much nicer hair to style, AND there's much more to style. I showed Kate a picture of the doll as a possible option, and she was super excited about it. I just hope that Santa can get it here now...
Is it Cariña that wants the Barbie? Maybe there's something similar to the Barbie that would still make her just as happy and she'll end up playing with more.
I don't know if this is helpful, but good luck!
I would buy what they want if it is cheap. If it is expensive then maybe you don't want to take the chance that it will go un-played with. Here's my Christmas motto...Buy cheap junk from China because chances are they will tire of even more quickly than it will break. That's not really my motto. I try hard every year, but truth be told I'd say at least 50% of the money I've spend in Christmases past has been wasted. But to tell the truth again, I've never regretted a penny spent on Christmas just for the faces on Christmas morning, regardless of what happened with the stuff down the road!
I do what Krys wrote. Berk asked for the princess barbies... they were cheap on black friday so that is what we got, but I just hope she plays with them... :) everything else is shoes, books, and clothes. They already have toys.
Plus Grandparents do the rest. I always have to remember that there are other people getting them presents. If I go overboard then they have WAY to much stuff. ;)
