Pets

This was our first pet.  It was a lizard that we found under the washer.  We had several lizards there, I think.  The only problem with wild lizards is they are great escape artists.  We couldn't keep this thing in our makeshift lizard terrarium.  We have had several lizards and even a gecko but they all got away!

Since we couldn't keep a lizard we thought a turtle would be a great pet. But my one rule for getting a pet was I was not going to buy anything for it and I was not going to buy a terrarium.  So the kids made a terrarium out of recycled material.  Then they pooled their money to buy one plant and turtle pellets.  It turns out that the turtle does not even like the pellets so he/she eats flies every morning.  It has turned out to be  a great/cheap friend!
