Why is she so small??!!?

Well we spent five days in the hospital to find out, and we now know a whole bunch of things that aren't the reason. :)  We also know that I am really good at being a couch potato and tv addict.

We didn't start our hospital stay trying to find out why Xenia was small.  It actually started out with four days of throwing up at night.  Then on the fourth day she was so unresponsive I knew I needed to take her in.  We went to the children's hospital because what is the point trying to get into a doctor when you are sick.  At the hospital they first took us to first care, but when they saw how unresponsive she was they put us in the emergency room.  Then you  know what happened, (the thing that always happens when you finally decide to get something checked out)  She perked right up.  They were about to send us home, luckily they didn't, but then saw her size for her age and decided that we needed to be admitted into the hospital.  I was a little unprepared for that statement, especially since I was babysitting.  I had to call the dad and have him pick up his daughter at the hospital.

When they admitted her they took her stats and put her on the growth curve.  On the American growth curve she was about -1%.  She was so low that they had to put her on the worldwide growth chart and she ended up only in the 3%.  Good news when Xenia was born her head was in the sixth percentile.  But now her head is in the 50%.  I guess her body was was focusing on growing her head more than her body.

Poor Xenia, when she was in she had to do about 5 rounds of blood draw.  I guess her little tiny veins were so hard to draw from that each time they had to poke her 3 times.  She was so mad about that.  Luckily it is over.  And as annoying as the hospital stay was, I don't regret it because I now know she is okay.
